How Your Dog Benefits from Exercise

Dog Runs

Dog Walks

Regular exercise helps maintain a healthy weight, reducing the risk of obesity-related conditions. It also promotes cardiovascular health by improving circulation and heart function.

Moreover, engaging in physical activities can strengthen muscles and increase flexibility, which is vital for preventing injuries.

Regular exercise contributes to better mental health by reducing anxiety and boredom, as it provides stimulation and social interaction. Following structed activity can help deter destructive behavior in the home. Additionally, it aids in digestion and can improve skin and coat condition.

Overall, incorporating consistent physical activity not only keeps dogs fit but also fosters a happier, more balanced lifestyle.

Runs are done with the handler on a motorized skateboard that has speed and braking controlled by the rider's body position. A top speed of around 20 mph may be achieved which is a quick jog for bigger dogs, and top speed for some smaller dogs.

Two leashes will be attached to the dog running. One will be a handheld flat nylon leash leading to a martingale collar on the dog's neck. The second will be a safety bungee leash attached to the rider's hip and a harness on the dog. It will act as a tether between the rider and animal in the event the handheld leash is dropped. This tether being attached to a harness will also greatly minimize the chance of injury to your animal.

Each dog wishing to participate in this service must go through an evaluating walk on foot with their rider, that clarifies their level of leash training, any reactivity issues towards other dogs/people/cars or the skateboard itself, and ease of being redirected.

Dog walks are a great way to keep your furry friend moving and their mind busy. Whether your career keeps you to busy and a regular walking schedule needs to be created, or maybe an injury has you on the couch for a few days, or maybe your dog is reactive and just to strong or difficult to walk, we can help.

Tails Up Pups walks with martingale collars or harnesses. If you don't have one that's ok, we have extras and think it's polite to share! Any prong collars may be used in leash training, but not for typical walks or runs.

So long as your dog is not reactive to a handler, we can get them the physical motion and mental stimulation they need. Multiple dog house holds may be accommodated also with a small fee per additional animal. Reactive dogs MAY also incur and additional charge.

Field Trips!

Once your dog is leash trained and well socialized, you can sign them up for field trips! We go to restaurants, parks, hiking, the drive-in, ball games, and if you have any ideas we can talk about them too! We want your dog to know us well before we take them out for a day trip, so we ask that we establish a two week walking history with them before we go out. Cost for field trips are based upon mileage, duration, and other charges incurred.
